Cambodia Gambling Dens

November 19th, 2016 at 11:25

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is illegal. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that features a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
